6 GAY-FRIENDLY COFFEE SHOPS IN DENVER

Let’s be honest: every small business owner runs on coffee, right? If you’re in the Denver area, you’re in luck because there are quite a few gay-friendly coffee shops where you can easily go and set up shop for the day to get through your to-do list.

Whether you’re looking for a quick boost or a place to hunker down with your laptop, we’ve rounded up seven of our fave gay-friendly coffee shops in Denver.

GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL

First up is Grounds for Dismissal, one of my personal favorite coffee shops in the entire city. This coffee shop is owned by an LGBTQIA+ couple who serves up tasty coffee and some incredible breakfast food.

The coffee shop is most well-known for its incredible coffee flights, where you can get four different specialty coffees, flight-style for only $25. Be sure to pair it with one of their great breakfast items for a real treat. They tend to get pretty busy, especially on the weekend, so plan your trip there wisely if you want to beat the crowds.

UNDER THE UMBRELLA

Under the Umbrella is an excellent LGBTQIA+ owned cafe and restaurant that you won’t want to miss out on. It’s located in Congress Park and is open for both coffee and full meals. Plus, everything on the menu has been carefully curated!

For coffee, they have absolutely every type you can think of, including lattes, mochas, cold brew, cappuccinos, and more. They also have lots of great pastries, sandwiches, and other breakfast goodies that pair deliciously with your brew.

TRIANGLE BAR DENVER

Triangle Bar might be a bitttt of a stretch to consider it a coffee shop, but it definitely deserves a spot on this list! It’s a gay bar that offers Sunday brunch, and at brunch, you can get everything from sweet creme brulee french toast to classic eggs benedict and even breakfast burgers! Of course, they also have excellent coffee choices too, made by Starbucks.

The bar is very fun and friendly inside, with ample seating and unique lighting. There’s also a huge bar that pretty much commands your attention when you walk in. If you want to visit there during another time of the week, be sure to stop by for drinks!

BLUSH & BLU

Blush & Blu is another bar slash coffee shop in Denver located right near Voodoo Doughnuts! In fact, they are one of the less than 20 lesbian bars that can be found throughout the United States, so they’re definitely worth a visit.

The best time to try their coffee is by visiting for Sunday brunch when you can also eat some of their fantastic breakfast options too. In addition to coffee, they have quiche, fruit skewers, fruit bowls, burritos, and more. Everything on the menu is relatively affordable, too, at around $10 and under for Sunday brunch. *Blush & Blu also made our Best Places to Drink list too!

FLUID COFFEE BAR

Located in LoDo, Fluid Coffee Bar is near impossible to miss. Anyone staying downtown will not be able to pass up on this coffee shop. It’s relatively tiny inside, so it’s not the perfect place to go if you’re looking to get work done, but it’s still great if you want a fantastic coffee.

The shop has pretty much every type of coffee that you could think of, and they also have some baked goods and breakfast burritos that you can order, too. Choose between sitting inside or enjoying the nice Denver weather by sitting in their closed patio area outside!

DAZBOG COFFEE

Believe it or not, Dazbog Coffee, which has many different locations throughout the city, is also gay-friendly. The one on E 9th Avenue is specifically known to be incredibly gay-friendly, so try to go to that one if you can.

Dazbog has some of the best coffee in Denver. Honestly, no matter what coffee you order there, you’re in for a treat. You can also usually get work done there, but it can get busy as the day goes on — so get there early if you want a great spot!

Krystianna Pietrzak

KP is a Denver-based website designer and founder of Inkpot Creative for the LGBTQ2+ community and allies who are ready to stand out from the crowd in all the right ways through bold, colorful, and inclusive design. When she’s not designing websites for her amazing clients, she can be found visiting national parks, writing for her travel blog, or giving cuddles to her girlfriend and cat.
